Day 1: Rio Lagartos, Las Coloradas, and Valladolid Exploration
On the inaugural day, your guide will escort you to the Rio Lagartos Biosphere, where you’ll embark on a boat tour to observe a variety of bird species, including herons, fishing eagles, pelicans, and flamingos, as well as other mangrove dwellers such as crocodiles and raccoons. Day 2: Ek Balam, Chichen Itza, and Merida Adventure
Your guide will collect you at 8:00 am for a day of exploration through prominent archaeological sites on the peninsula. Begin at Ek Balam (“Star Jaguar” or “Dark Jaguar” in Maya), admiring its remarkable architecture and history. Continue to Chichen Itza, one of the Seven Wonders of the modern world, to marvel at the Pyramid of Kukulcan, the Sacred Cenote, and other structures. Afterward, retire for the night in Mérida.
Day 3: Yaxcopoil Hacienda, Cenote Kankirixche, Uxmal, and Chocolate Museum
On day three, begin by visiting the colonial Yaxcopoil Hacienda to learn about henequen fiber production. Next we visit the Kankirixche Cenote with cristaline waters to swim. Next, explore the remarkable Uxmal archaeological site (“Three times built” in Maya), renowned for its Adivino pyramid, the only known temple with an oval base in Mayan culture.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Chocolate museum Choco Story before heading to Mérida, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 4: Campeche
On this day, the guide will take you to the lesser-known city of Edzna in Campeche, a true monument of the Classic period. From there, you will continue to Campeche City to visit the Museo Fuerte de San José el Alto. After exploring the museum, you will check in to your hotel in Campeche.
Day 5: Becan - Bacalar
Explore the ancient Mayan city of Becan nestled deep within the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve. After a day of discovery, head to the enchanting town of Bacalar for the night.
Day 6: Bacalar Lagoon Boat Tour
